Lutefisk Dinner and Annual Auction |
|
Since the early 1950’s, Lakeview Lutheran Church has celebrated it’s Scandinavian history and tradition with an annual Lutefisk Dinner. Each year, over 1200 hearty people come to the church on a cold Friday in November to eat this delicacy. Served family style, this meal includes the fish cooked on site, Swedish meatballs, real mashed potatoes and gravy, fresh cranberry sauce, cole slaw, mashed rutabagas, pumpkin and apple pie and plenty of homemade lefse, butter and brown sugar. On the annual Lutefisk dinner day the congregation also hosts a holiday craft bazaar and bake sale. The Lutefisk dinner day for 2008 is November 7 serving the public from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm at the church.
Beginning in 2005, Lakeview Lutheran Church has hosted an annual auction and raffle in the spring to support the ongoing outreach ministries of the congregation. The members of Lakeview are pleased that we can make the building available to many North side non-profit groups. The day of the auction and raffle begins with lunch and an opportunity to view the items available for sale. A silent auction, which allows participants to make written bids, is part of the fun on this day. The live auction and the announcement of the raffle prizewinners make an excellent grand finale. Auction/Raffle day at Lakeview is an exciting and fun-filled fellowship event open to everyone in the greater Madison community. |
